Jewish Life in Vienna – Then and Now

Jewish Vienna

Vienna’s 2nd District, Leopoldstadt, has constituted a center for Jewish life in Vienna since the middle of the 19th century. Leopoldstadt is home to eleven synagogues or houses of prayer, seven Jewish educational establishments, several kosher grocery stores and restaurants, in addition to other Jewish establishments.

The Hotel & Restaurant Stefanie is a popular location for celebrations and events and the hotel offers travelers a kosher breakfast upon request.

The Jewish Museum Vienna is a place for meeting, discussion and understanding, where awareness for Jewish history, religious and culture is created.

A Jewish-Viennese evening at the Hotel & Restaurant Stefanie titled
“Jewish Life in Vienna – Then and Now”
on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, starting at 7:00 PM.

Look forward to an enjoyable and informative evening with

Dr. Danielle Spera, Director, Jewish Museum Vienna
Christof Habres,
journalist and author of the book “Jüdisches Wien” (Jewish Vienna)

To set the mood, you’ll be entertained by

Theo Lieder with Klezmer music!

The Restaurants Stefanie team will provide refreshments – with Jewish and Viennese delicacies from our buffet and accompanying drinks.

All-inclusive price:
€ 90.00 per person, containing the entire evening program, aperitif, Jewish-Viennese buffet,  recommended wines, beer, alcohol-free drinks and coffee as desired (liqueurs are not included).

The net receipts of this event benefit the Jewish Museum, and in partnership with the Jewish Museum Vienna, the Hotel & Restaurant Stefanie is petitioning for a special project: the virtual reconstruction of the synagogues destroyed in 1938. Two dedicated architects are working with Vienna University of Technology students on this project. To date, 25 synagogues could be displayed at the Jewish Museum; there were, however, hundreds of synagogues in Austria.

Space is limited and we therefore kindly ask you to make your reservations as soon as possible.

Reservation via online booking, in writing or in person directly at the Hotel Stefanie:
Taborstrasse 12, 1020 Vienna,
by phone: +43 1 211 50 0
or by email: stefanie@schick-hotels.com

We look forward to seeing you!
